It's usually caused by a back injury, generally a herniated disc. The treatment is pretty much taking meds for inflammation (aspirin, ibuprofen, but not Tylenol because Tylenol only treats pain and fever, not inflammation). Other treatments include physical therapy. But if it goes away and doesn't come back, don't worry about it. It might resolve on its own. But if it feels like you can't stand on a leg without pain in the butt (yup, a real pain in the butt ;-)) then go to the doctor and get it checked out.
