My file host sucks

For a week now my file host has had "technical difficulties" resulting in a "401 - you're not authorized" blabla (even I get it), so the download for the "Dream Twister Socks" doesn't work once again. I think I've had it and am going to look for another one.

WTF?

I saw this last night on the news, just before I went to bed. Anyone else had nightmares? I still hear the poor kid plead "don't taze me, don't taze me" only to have the campus police do it anyways and a couple of times.

That's enough

That's more than enough I thought when I started the Skater Overtop from "Knitting Classic Style" by VĂ©ronik with the Black Bunny Fiber Merino Lace. I was right. Barely. Of the former existing two swatches I have one left because I had to rip one out to finish the last row and bind-off of the neckline.

It's the story of the knitter who had an uneasy sense of not having enough yarn but who kept knitting and knitting....well, it paid off. Phew. Dodged that one.

The download should work now. Please try again. Thanks.

My patience is tested, yours too

Apparently my file host has had a big hiccup of sorts and so the file of the Dream Twister socks cannot be downloaded - yet again.

I am working on the problem, but since I have - in a fit of organization - deleted the correct version of the pattern on my computer at home it has to wait till Monday.

In other news

Here's the gifted yarn I promised pictures of:

One of my favourite fiber mixes ever: 70% merino wool/30% silk
It's called Sherlock and it's from Artfibers. The coolest thing is that it's a chainette. (I took this picture a while ago, today there was no sun to be had in Montreal.)

So, what do you do when you wake up at 5 a.m. on a Sunday morning and realize by 5.45 a.m. that there is no way you are going back to sleep? I got up, made myself a big cup of coffee and started a new project. Of course. What else would one do?

It's the Skater's Overtop from "Knitting Classic Style" by Veronik. It's shown in Kid Silk Haze in the book, but my gauge was spot on with the lace weight from Black Bunny Fibers, so I plugged on. From a quarter to six to maybe noon - and then I had to stop because my shoulder hurt somewhat fierce. It still does, but I got about 8.5" done. I wish it was my wrist, then I knew what to do about it, as it is I am unhappily using stinking Rub A535 - it smells like Root Beer gone bad and I do know only one single person who admitted she loves that smell.

I had planned to come up with a design on my own for that yarn, but this is so much easier. (I have more laceweight, do not fear. Plenty for my own ideas. Should they ever take root.)

It's "Fall"-ing

Summer is taking its last stand here in Montreal, it's hot and humid as if it was July. One knows that Fall is around the corner though, the leaves have already started to turn, and there have been a couple of crisp nights in the weeks before.

I have a lot going on, new things and old things that have to be dealt with. New for instance is a teaching experience. I am teaching a beginner's sock class and it's my first time. It's exciting and scary at once, because when I get nervous I tend to babble. A lot. I guess I'll get over that.

At the end of September I'll be going to Fibre Fest North, I had meant to put up the button forever. (You know how it is, right, you think of what you want to do and then you turn around and a month has passed. I still don't know how that happens, though it's a very freqent occurence in my life.) I am looking forward to this very much, especially since my husband will tag along and it'll be a mini-vacation for both of us. I certainly hope he'll enjoy it as well.
