My pride and joy in 1999 - and the first car I "owned" (leased) ever! And it had an orange interior, too! Driving it was exhilarating, really, especially when people stopped and stared. Happened in Strasbourg where I visited my hubby. A bike stopped and the guy on it threw his hands in the air and went "mon Dieu, mon Dieu". That was because in 1999 the smart was pretty new to everyone.
During my vacation in Germany I realized you can see the smarts literally everywhere - I wish I could get mine back. You can buy them now in Canada, too, (see: SHE has one *grumble*)
Nowadays neither the orange nor the green is available, for a short while there was a blue one like that, too. Why did they revert to the "boring" colours? I don't know.
Check this out: It's fun!
(Maybe I should take over K.'s idea of setting up a donations button - but mine would be for the car, not the shoes, of course.)

Well I just made up my own version of Smart and it came up too 23,900$ Ouch! For a car that won't even fit the whole family in, that's pretty expensive. LOL! Oh and don't even remind me that I don't actually own a driver's license either. ;)
It's so adorable! Like a teacup puppy except you can actually ride it. Welcome back--sounds like you had a great time viztin'.
I'm with you -- I can't figure out why they discontinued all the great colours -- I would have *loved* orange or green!
jo, I agree it's not a family car, except maybe as a second car. But I have no kids, and it's great for getting around and running errands. AND the mileage is phenomenal -- my best mileage so far is 4.31L/100km or 65.5mpg!
Yes, I love the car, and have since the day I first saw them when I lived in France...
Problem is - BMW may even stop doing these cars in America - they have to cut people on the manufactory chains... thus they said it might impede their production here phfewwwww
