Moi aussi - Clapotis!

I feel a bit like copy-cat even though I am not. Honestly, I started playing around with some yarn I had yesterday morning and decided to knit Clapotis for my Mom's birthday. Then, after I had already started, I read up on Yarn Harlot's blog. I thought myself really clever for NOT using stitch markers (18 are way too fussy) but purl stitches, and now I look like a big plagiarist.

Merde.

J'ai hâte de laisser tomber des mailles...c'est le fun!

I am using "Micro" from Schachenmayr in a lovely apricot I had in my stash. The yarn is shiny and really slippery so dropping and unraveling the stitches will be no problem at all. It is also a bit thinner than what Kate used, so my Clapotis will be a bit smaller. As the scarf is biased so was I about knitting it. Everyone is and was, I am late as usual but I have to admit: it is fun!

It seems others I've seen have all used matte finish yarns so the shiny yarn here is very interesting.

I have Micro in blue and never though of using it for Clapotis...but I really love that yarn. It's got a beautiful sheen to it. I'm halfway through the middle section of my Clapotis and can't wait to wear it :-) And I'm planning on using it "wrong side" out, as it's modeled in Knitty, because the backside of the stockinette really mirrors the horizontalness of the dropped stitch ladders. No socks yet, sorry...but soon, I promise...

Don't you think it's funny that there are projects that become trendy in the knitting world *all at once*? I feel like such a stick in the mud sometimes by not joining in. And, I am in awe of your sock completion ability. I am still working on a baby blanket that must be done by next Saturday. Eek...!
